Leo Season Tarot 2023

Welcome To Leo Season!

July 23 – August 22, 2023

Leo Season Begins

The Sun enters Leo, the sign of its rulership on July 22, 2023 at 9:51 PM EST. Fixed fire is being emphasized the entire summer with Venus stationing retrograde in the sign while Mars, Mercury and Lilith are also passing through. That’s almost all of the personal planets! Get in touch with what makes you. Define it. Improve it. Then, show it to the world honestly and unapologetically. Leo energy shines regardless, sometimes in spite of itself. (Said my Scorpio Rising) The Leo season tarot reflects this conundrum.

It’s the height of summer. We are feeling warm, vivacious and a little more outgoing. Many are learning to recognize and refine their expressions of individuality. Creative urges may differ in a million ways, but we’re all being called to make something tangible that reflects our current self-definition and who we are trying to become. Venus retrograde helps us infuse value, while Mars will compel us to take aligned actions. This is about finding pleasure in being who you are and taking action to embody & protect that sense of self.

There are 10 cards laid in a daimond shape representing an ouroboros. In the center are 2 more cards. One is facedown showing the back of the deck. The other is face up. The primary 10 cards are listed in order next to the photo. The face up center card is at the end of the list. The cards are from the Thoth tarot by Aleister Crowley. Information about the spread, and deck are detailed in the photo's caption.

leo Season Collective Outlook

Collective Goal & The Problem

The cards and stars DGAF about our intentions during Leo Season 2023, but we do, though. ? Collectively, we’ve set our sights on community, stability, and a joy that permeates our interactions with those around us. The 4 of Wands is about building a foundation according to a plan made before. But it’s also about collaborating with those who seek a similar setting for safety and security. However, the harsh and final 10 of Swords stands in our way to this fulfillment and it needs to be addressed. This card can often represent betrayal or the trauma that results from it and the almost forced detachment required of someone who’s faced such a painful or mentally exhausting closure. 10’s also represent the pause between an ending and new beginning. Hopefully, that’s where the Leo season tarot will lead us.

Collective Energy & Approach

Our capacity for positive expectation, emotional awareness and receptivity is strong this month. Even though we’re out of the season of the crab, the collective energy is represented by the Queen of Cups. This archetype is deeply emotional and filled with compassion. Furthermore, her intuition is acute, and her keen insight penetrates the emotional dynamics of an environment much like water seeps through anything remotely porous. Sensitivity will be high. So, try to pay closer attention the information behind the feelings that arise. With this archetype in mind, we approach the 10 swords by way of the Hanged Man. The card shows up when circumstances compel us to recognize how our perspective may be skewed.

Additionally, it’s a powerful pause for clarity, though sometimes forced. More often than not, the result is a period of stasis. In other words, change or forward movement is stalled. At least, until our mind can catch up to the facts. We’re being asked to let go of circumstances and thought processes that cause harm or limit our agency. Hell no, it won’t be easy. Even so, peace and progress rely on our conscious and consistent effort. Another important aspect of this card to consider is sacrifice. In this stillness, we are granted the ability to see what or who in our lives no longer serves our highest good. We are called to improve our capacity for acceptance of the truth and then release. All of it…

What’s Gone & Going

The Past & Passing Energies

Before we arrived at this decisive, yet debilitating end, the cards say many of us were going through significant transitions. New money (or losses), relocation, or creative progress was palpable. However, transition phases are often chaotic, producing fear or activating the ego’s responses. We may have lost sight of the fact that change often includes elements of both gain and loss. Therefore, our actions may have had some unforeseen consequences.

As a result of the unexpected, some of us may have grown disillusioned with the options leftover. Our efforts to move in a new direction or otherwise change our lives brought us hurt but also taught us to detach. Now, we face the world with healing in mind. Meanwhile, those around us may be working to move out of their own damaging circumstances brought on by harsh conversations and unintended change.

What emerges

What’s Coming in Now & Later

Collectively, we may have to take a little more time to ourselves to recover our energy, clarify our intentions, or tame our egos. We can’t deny that Leo energy carries a strong egoic response, regardless of the level of confidence. As a matter of fact, I would even say ego reactions are usually proportional to the amount of insecurity we carry within us. The Hermit (IX) suggests we take time to look deeply within ourselves for truths we may have lost sight of.

Finally, we emerge out of this necessary period of stillness and solitary pursuit. As we step out into the sunlight, we find reason to celebrate, bonds that put smiles on our faces, and for just a few opportunities to meet those with whom we can bring forth the emotional and material stability indicated by the 4 of Wands. Looks like the end of the season comes mighty close to meeting our expectations.

Other Aspects to Consider…

  • The 2 of Pentacles as a representation of the collective emotional state is very changeable. It also indicates weighing our priorities and considering the value of emotional investments. As a response to the past (Wheel of Fortune), it is adaptability to an ever-changing reality.
  • Queen of Cups mirroring the 6 of Swords looks like compassionate acceptance of someone’s need to detach from us or to create physical distance. Again, here is the emphasis on both acceptance and sacrifice.
  • The 4 of Wands mirrors the Hermit, suggesting what we are going within to discover is the meaning of security at a personal level. It also suggests that we’re trying to establish physical environment that supports self-exploration.
  • The 4 of Cups mirroring the 3 of Cups is a blatant reminder to be careful who we invest our emotions into lest we find ourselves deeper in the cycle of dissatisfaction.

As always, I wish you peace of mind, joyful hearts, and abundant lifestyles.
