In the beginning

Bravely, Boldly, & with its head on straight, the Sun enters Aries the evening of March 19th, marking the Spring Equinox & bringing us into a new zodiac year. At the same time, Venus will conjunct Saturn, creating a sobering effect the first week, despite her exaltation in Pisces. She’s partnering with the heavy hitters all this season. Many, especially cardinal and fire signs will be experiencing lethargy or feelings of isolation. Too, this aspect can put a damper on relationships and issues of finance. Aries season 2024 may just increase our capacity for commitment to what we value.

However, on March 25th, not long after Aries season begins, we’ll see the full moon lunar eclipse in Libra. This lunation is ruled by Venus and so we’ll get to see just how much of that tension connects to longer standing issues within relationships and practical matters. Because it’s an eclipse, it’s going to be potent and the energy will reverberate over the next six months. Interestingly, April Fool’s Day brings our first Mercury retrograde in Aries from 27° to 15°. All the re-words should be applied to thoughts, conversations and connections that highlight our self-definition (or lack thereof). The messenger planet stations direct right after Taurus Season begins on April 25th.

Next, Venus will conjunct Neptune on the 3rd increasing feelings of compassion. Be careful that you’re not looking at people, places, or circumstances through rose-colored lenses. We’ll have an opportunity to set intentions that reverberate through the entire zodiacal year with the New Moon in Aries on April 8. This particular new moon will closely conjunct Chiron. Pain points around asserting oneself or expressions of personal power will be activated. This time, use the clarity to take decisive action that brings you into deeper awareness of you.

Aries ruling planet, Mars, enters Pisces on March 22nd. He’ll be here all season. Notably, Mars makes an important, but likely difficult conjunction to Saturn on April 10. Many will experience feelings of resentment, frustration, or downright aggression. It may be best to channel that energy into individual efforts to rise above conflict. At least try not to hit anyone or set them aflame. Just a day later, on the 11th, we’ll have the Sun in conjunction to Mercury (Cazimi). This is transit will provide clarity in the midst of some retrograde confusion.

Pisces season’s impact

This season is drawing courage, maturity, and empathy from all of us. Initially, we enter the season of the ram with great self-control, says the Strength VIII. Additionally, this card symbolizes self-compassion and acceptance, expressions of willpower, and curbing impulsivity. There’s a marked restraint implied that stems from experiencing the consequences of our unbridled passion. Make no mistake it does not suggest repression of the primal urges of the Lion. In fact, it is capitalizing on that potency.

So, we’ve recently learned to channel our wills in ways that serve our intent and underline our self-definition. Obviously, that’s Aries’ domain. That’s where the Fool card emerges to remind us of the value of a beginner’s mind. Curious, open, free, and light, is this character. Of course, the message it imparts is that in order to expand our impact, we must control our impulses.

Mood of the Season

Presently, the Knight of Disks (King of Pentacles) represents our present circumstances. This guy is practical, powerful, and focused on the sensual. Don’t confuse this with being sexual, though! This character’s concerned with the 5 senses. They build on what can be seen, heard, tasted, felt, or sniffed on. In other words, this energy rules over the material world. As one of the highest royals under the emperor, he’s mastered all aspects of is natural element. Slowly, methodically, consistently he works, invests, and commits to what he values. He’s also pretty benevolent in the upright, often called “The Benefactor”.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE COLLECTIVE

Since the knight is reversed, it’s more likely a lot of us will experience the results of being over-cautious or totally impractical in our material lives and handling of responsibilities. What are you eating? Are you moving your body? Where is your time and money going and is there a return? It’s time to apply the lessons of the Strength card again. Future stability and our overall self-worth will be repeatedly undermined if we allow the necessities to remain unstable for too long.

Accordingly, start mastering your own material world this month. Disk energy loves efficacy, efficiency, and the eventual rewards they bring. In other words, it’s time to put our money where mouths are. Approach practical endeavors with discipline. Get methodical about security and stability. Concentrate your effort on building strong foundations. Then, focus on creating abundance that can be shared or used to solidify or obtain personal or societal power. Status matters this season. So, put yourself in a position to give without losing.

what are we missing?

Interestingly, the unknown card brings the only water in this reading. The sappy sweet Ace of Cups shows up trying to fly under the radar. Not a likely story. Nevertheless, it seems for at least part of the period, we’ll be in some way oblivious to its energy. This Ace represents the ways we’re being encouraged to increase receptivity at a heart level. To what? To each other, to ways of healing and loving that fortify us individually and interpersonally. During Aries Season, we’re getting an Aries style crash course on grounding ourselves into a heart centered life. How would they put it? “Unless you’re a repairman, feed ’em, fuck ’em, build or buy ’em something.” Start with self.

Insight From Our Environment

Changing Responses to Alienation Bring emotional & material Rewards

On the contrary, the circumstances of the environment are not making it easy to get closer. The Hermit IX represents self-containment, isolation, or one who is actively learning to keep their own council. That may be the reason that the Ace of Cups, which mirrors this card seems to be blending into our experience with us none the wiser. The card implies that someone may be emerging from a period of self-isolation. The goal was to gain wisdom, process romantic feelings, heal, or learn forgiveness. A few may realized someone has reacted to our detachment or emotional control by shutting down. This dynamic in particular could apply to us.

For most, though, this likely requires just a slight shift in our approach. Obviously there’s a need to balance self containment with social engagement. Better, there may be a reward for this effort in the near future. Most profoundly, the Hermit seeks greater understanding through self-reflection. Consequently, a lucky few may meet a potential partner while they’re knee-deep in a shadow work journey. So, don’t stand idly but do practice patience. Look around for those with whom you feel your best self finds a sense of belonging. Then, treat them as if that’s exactly who you are (because it’s true).

Guidance in Light of it All

In particular, the guidance and outcome cards point to clear endings. Both are numbered 10, suggesting we gain closure and transcend or move beyond a circumstance as Aries Season 2024 wanes. Specifically, I often consider the number 10 to represent a moment of stasis. It’s where we become conscious of the impact of an ending and register possibilities for new beginning. But, it’s just before life moves forward. The Wheel of Fortune X is confirmation that we are going in the right direction and it compels us to keep going. The card itself is about perceptible shifts in experience & circumstance, but also within us.

In this spread, the advice is to increase our receptivity to change, to initiate it, to move in it. Recognize the value in your own fluidity as it applies to your life. When we align with what is, even as it shifts, we grow and expand. Too, the universe often gifts us for our efforts to remain in the present. The 10 of Disks symbolizes the culmination of our efforts to grow ourselves, invest in others, and build long lasting legacies that reflect our value systems. Nevertheless, it is an ending. This 10 ceases an individual existence and begins movement into unit of one.

Finally, solitary beings become solid and secure within a group. Ultimately, this is long-term alignment amongst those with shared values and ideal lifestyles. It starts with the collective learning to meet our own needs and then sustaining that effort until we manifest a surplus we can share. This applies to our spiritual practices as well as our mundane responsibilities, thoughts and relationships. Giving from a place of lack creates more lack, while reciprocal exchanges between those who are self-sustained creates abundance that is expansive.
