Our new astrological year began with a bang and then some. This season started with the Libra full moon and issues of partnership were the first clue that our self-expression would be under review. As the month progressed, the Ram has brought us face to face with the “I am” at a collective and individual level. Now, we’re being compelled by the stars to get familiar with who we are, good and bad, through the consequences of our actions. Even the Aries season tarot confirms the message: self-actualization starts with self-honesty. In fact, this energy is notoriously & unapologetically self-directed. Many of us are learning to be so too. Appropriately, the Aries new moon 2024 features a stellium (3< planets) in the sign to bring the message home. It’s time to move into full embodiment of all that you say you are or desire to be.

Archetypally, luna in the first sign of the zodiac is passionate, innovative, headstrong, and curious about interacting with the world at large. Aries moon is ruled by mars, the planet associated with battle, goal achievement, and the sexual urge. Hence, too much can lead to war, abuse, or wild success depending on how we respond to our own impulses. Basically, it represents the way we exert our will and desire nature upon the environment. As this lunation occurs, its ruler will be wading through the deep waters of Pisces and approaching a conjunction to Saturn. I see a lot of the collective dealing with the consequences (♄) of actions (♂) directed by the subconscious (♓). We’ll be looking at what those undeniable urges say about us, even if they haven’t always been within our full control.

Hard Aspects

An almost exact conjunction to Chiron speaks of clarifying one’s identity through painful experiences of self-assertion. This transit is likely to reactivate issues that arose around the Libra full moon. Relational insecurities, issues around how we show up physically and treat ourselves fairly or unfairly are going to be triggered in the interest of deeper awareness. It’s best to allow what takes place to drive home those truths we’ve been resistant to up until this point. It’ll be easy to clear out behaviors and attitudes that don’t work for us when we recognize our agency. Even easier to go towards what we truly desire when we discover and acknowledge how we’ve gotten in our own way. Let your hurt serve you.

Soft Aspects

This particular lunation is not making any soft aspects. However, in the background, Lilith in Virgo is approaching an exact trine to Uranus in Taurus. Breaking the rules now can have a healing effect, especially if they were imposed on us but not aligned with us. Mercury, who’s currently retrograde is making a trine to the Vertex suggesting some fated events are likely to occur or at least epiphanies. This is a particularly opportune time to resolve problematic thought patterns, especially with regard to self-confidence, creativity, and expansion of one’s worldview. Therefore, direct your actions (an Aries word, for sure) toward self-actualization.

Approached practically, this looks like reviewing your actual lifestyle for clues on your mental and emotional state. Listen to what your body is telling you about how you are treating it and what you’re digesting. Then make the adjustments you already recognize the need for and try to sustain the effort. Remind yourself with tangible proof (your actions) that you’ve got what it takes.

While Saturn’s involvement is essentially peripheral, it still indicates some responsibility must be taken for what we’ve brought into the world (or forced upon it). Energetically, physically, socially, what do your actions up to this point say about who you are, who you’ve been, and who you stand to become? Mercury is retrograde in the sign asking us to deeply reconsider and eventually adapt to the information that emerges. Let’s do so in ways that return to us a sense of personal power.
