A Conundrum of Choices & Discernment

Summer approaches! We have arrived at the last major lunation of the Spring season. The New Moon in Gemini, then, is an opportunity to set intentions for the season to come. The few days beforehand are great for clearing and release. In fact, it’s a great time to consider the impact of new information and choices on our emotional experience. Then, let go outdated perspectives and emotional attachment to ideas. During the 3 days before and after this new moon, we’re likely to feel an innate desire to interact with our peers in ways that open the mind.

Archetypally, the moon in mutable air suggests that the emotional needs surround variety in communication dynamics and social settings, spontaneous learning, and direct engagement with physical surroundings. So, there’ll likely be a temptation to spread our energy in many directions. However, to me the best use of the energy is to try to see only a few things from multiple angles or create strategies for progress after collecting data.

What’s most notable about this new moon is that a stellium in the sign that features Gemini’s ruling planet Mercury. Mutable air energy is intensified for everyone. We’re in the wake of Jupiter in Gemini’s trine to Pluto, now retrograde in Aquarius. So, there’s an opportunity here to dig a little deeper into the impact of our thoughts on our interpersonal experiences. That means, right now is a great time to consider how your values and interests color your social life and communication styles. Purge behaviors that no longer align with your intentions to connect.

Hard Aspects

Fortunately, an exact conjunction to Venus in Gemini is likely to lessen the negative potentials of Jupiter’s excess. For some, though, it could exacerbate issues of learning, communication and local travel. Either way, invitations to be social will increase and there’ll be a sense that even in casual conversations there’s something substantial to learn. It’ll be easier to work through issues now and having detached discussions about significant issues.

Nevertheless, it’s important to focus on what is likely to impact you directly rather than attempting to take in and sort through everything being said. Especially since everybody will have something to say. Remember that not everything being said is true or applicable to your life. Try to align your energy with the information that directly impacts your intentions. Allow the rest to flow through you without attaching any meaning or emotion. We don’t want to get bogged down in the surplus of minutiae.

Additionally, the new moon in Gemini is applying to a square with Saturn in Pisces. This suggest that despite the typically lighthearted nature of the moon in Gemini, we may have some difficulty feeling truly connected to what’s happening around us. The interplay between the two suggest we have an emotional need or desires to explore a variety of experiences. However, it’s in conflict with some responsibility or limitation in the house with Pisces on the cusp.

Soft Aspects

Next, the moon’s waning sextile to the Aries north node and trine to the Libra south node creates ease in social settings. With the lunar nodes involved, this is the time to integrate the wisdom of the past with the pull to move into our intended futures. As such, active listening, honest and clear communication, curiosity, and self-awareness will be the means to manifestation. Speak from your heart and walk your talk!

In the background, Uranus approaches a trine to Lilith, still in Virgo, and a sextile to Neptune, who’s at the last degree of the zodiac wheel (29° Pisces). That sextile has the potential to activate our interest in spiritual topics. Uranus is a rebel and innovator no and looks beyond the expected for answers. So, it’s time to dig deep, and ask hard questions. Our minds are wide open with this aspect. Some will be inclined to look into the occult and other alternative sources for the truth when traditional learning leaves more questions than answers or doesn’t align with what we know to be real. There’s no shame in it, though. Lilith’s opposition to Neptune will create tension if we cling to our illusions because out of a desire to belong.

In light of the planetary dynamics for the entire Gemini Season, I think it best we focus on utilizing strategy when determining where to focus. Information gathering has its place as does the consideration of available options. Nevertheless, no one person can know or do it all. Discernment will be vital, and our enhanced pattern recognition helps narrow our focus. Get out and mingle and look for signs that those you encounter are aligned with the standards you set for yourself and your relations. Then, start asking questions.
